Little bird, The Unbakeries & Everyday Needs bring you an Evening of Fermentation


Join in with Megan May from little bird and the Everyday Needs team as we demonstrate how to get started with fermenting & preserving at home. We will show you how to create living probiotic foods from fermented vegetables, how to make water keifr sodas, as well as ways to incorporate them into some delicious recipes that everyone at home will enjoy.

Location: the little bird unbakery 1a Summer Street, Ponsonby.


Everyday Needs will be on hand with all the supplies you need for your at-home fermenting practice. Available to purchase on the night will be:

  • Counter Culture fermentation crocks which are handmade in California; not only a scientifically sound system to create wonderful food, but also beautiful to use and admire.
  • 'The Art of Fermentation' by Sandor Ellix Katz - the bible for beginner to seasoned fermentors.
  • They will also be offering special deals on the classic Weck jars from Germany, which are the perfect vessel for all of your fermented produce.

Little bird summer street will have Xandies Kombucha  on tap – you will get an opportunity to be some of the first people to sample this amazing fermented drink crafted by one of little birds very talented chefs.
